Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with the Bottomless Closet. You can make a significant difference in the lives of the women we serve. To ensure the best fit between volunteer interests and our organizational needs, volunteers are asked to attend an orientation session prior to volunteering with Bottomless Closet.

Volunteering…How You Can Help

Client Services
This is an opportunity for personal interaction with our clients on site at BC. In a boutique-like setting, you will act as a personal shopper to help each client select interview appropriate clothing, shoes and additional accessories. Client appointments generally last approximately two hours. Volunteers are needed to help with clients Tuesday through Friday at 10 a.m and 1p.m and Saturdays (call for specific time).

Clothing Intake/Inventory Management
Our team of volunteers work together in various capacities on intake day completing tasks such as assisting with the acceptance of clothing donations, managing inventory and deciding which clothing becomes available for our clients. Intake is held on the second Saturday of each month (with exception of January and September), from
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and some weekday evenings as needed. Volunteers meet donors in alley between Illinois and Hubbard to help transfer clothing from the car to our racks while others screen and sort clothing by size and style in our storage area. Intake Saturdays are a great opportunity for groups to volunteer, as 25-30 people are needed to help with each intake.

Showroom Management
This is a great opportunity to use your fashion talents! Volunteers stock and maintain the appearance of the BC showroom, which means creating a smooth flow of clothing and accessories from the basement to the showroom racks. Restocking of the showroom takes place the first Saturday of every month, from 9 a.m. to 1p.m.

Office Support
There are always phones to be answered, mailing to be sorted, stamps to lick, data to be entered, papers to file and clients to be contacted reminding them of their appointments.
